Is Fring free?

Yes, entirely. Every feature is free today: cataloging with no limit on items, outfits, statistics, the social network, the marketplace, trips. No subscription, no card, no premium tier — payment simply does not exist in Fring yet. We are in beta and we would rather open the product up than ration it.

Will it stay free?

We cannot promise that forever, and we would rather say so plainly: running AI models costs real money and we are a very small outfit. If part of Fring becomes paid one day, it will be announced in advance and never retroactively — the wardrobe you have already catalogued will stay accessible.

Do I need to install an app?

No. Fring works directly in your browser, on computer and mobile alike, with nothing to download or install.

Is there a limit on the number of clothes I can add?

No, the basic inventory has no limit on the number of items.

How does AI recognition work?

You take a photo of your clothing item, and a vision model analyzes the image to automatically suggest the category, color, and material. You always keep the final say to correct it before saving.

Are my clothes visible to other users?

No, your wardrobe is private by default. Sharing (profile, outfits, lookbooks) only activates if you enable the Community module and explicitly choose to share.

Can I enable additional features later?

Yes, and it is meant to work that way: your account starts with the wardrobe alone, then you add the modules you care about from Profile > Modules, at any time. They are all free. Switching a module off hides its pages, it does not delete your data.

Fring's vocabulary

Several words look alike without meaning the same thing. Here is what each one refers to.

Outfit
A combination of clothes worn together. It is the basic unit — everything else is organised around it.
Lookbook
A free-form inspiration board. You place your own clothes on it, but also images found elsewhere, text and colours, wherever you like. It gathers ideas — it is not meant to compose a wearable outfit.
Collection
A themed grouping of your own clothes. Unlike a lookbook, everything in it comes from your wardrobe.
Capsule wardrobe
A collection with a time period and a limited number of pieces, plus a dashboard measuring what you actually wore during that period.
Studio
The composing workshop: you build a silhouette role by role (top, bottom, shoes, outerwear, accessory). It can draw from your wardrobe, from shop products, from a friend's items, and from second-hand listings — the latter for try-on only.
Virtual try-on
An AI overlay of a single garment onto a photo of you. Not to be confused with the Studio: try-on produces an image, the Studio composes an outfit.
Dress Me
Outfit suggestions generated from your wardrobe, taking the weather into account.
Module
Each major feature is switched on or off from the Modules page. A new account starts with the wardrobe only; the rest is added when you need it.
