Fring is a wardrobe management app. This page explains simply what data we collect, why, how long we keep it, and how you can control it.
Sevan Safarian, sole trader (EI), trading as Nocarbono, 200 rue du Clos de l'Allet, 26500 Bourg-lès-Valence, France. Contact for any question about your data: sevangmb@gmail.com.
At sign-up: your name, email, password (stored encrypted, never in plain text), and the version of the terms of use you accept, with its date — the record of your consent. At each sign-in: the IP address and browser used, to keep your account secure. If you complete your profile: bio, city, website, profile picture and full-body photo, all optional. If you add clothing items: the photos you upload and the details you enter. If you run the colour analysis (optional): your selfie is analysed on our server and deleted right away; only the season, skin tone and palette derived from it are stored; they are erased with your account, or earlier on request. If you use the Family space: your children's first name, date of birth, gender and height, visible to you only. If you interact with other members: your private messages, your marketplace offers, orders and reviews, your borrow requests. If you post (feed, comments, challenges, listings, reviews), that content is visible to other members depending on the feature. If you report a problem: your email and your message. For weather and nearby places: the city you enter, or, only if you click “Use my location” and allow it in your browser, your position — rounded to about 1 km by our server before it is stored.
To provide the service you asked for (performance of a contract): your account, your wardrobe, the features you use, your exchanges with other members. For the security of the service and its audience measurement (legitimate interest): sign-in IP address and browser, anonymous statistics. With your consent, which you can withdraw at any time: your browser's location, the colour analysis. Because the law requires it (legal obligation): the data that makes it possible to identify the author of content published on Fring (French law on confidence in the digital economy, decree no. 2021-1362). We never sell or share your data for advertising, and there are no ad trackers on the site.
Fring is hosted in France, on a server we operate ourselves, with no third-party cloud. AI clothing recognition and virtual try-on run on that same server: your photos are never sent to an outside AI service. Brand logos are fetched by our server, never by your browser. A few services receive only what they need: Open-Meteo (the city or rounded position, for weather, and a trip's destination with its dates, for the weather of the stay), OpenStreetMap Nominatim (the rounded position, to show your town's name) and ADEME, the French environment agency (the rounded position, for repair and donation places). The service's emails (confirmation, password reset, notifications) are sent through Gmail (Google). Google, based in the United States, therefore receives your email address and the content of those messages; this transfer relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
We use Umami, a self-hosted statistics tool: it sets no cookie and never identifies a visitor. It records pages viewed, where the visit came from and the type of device, in aggregate. You can object by turning on your browser's Do Not Track option: Umami honours it.
One cookie only: the session cookie (7 days), strictly necessary to keep you signed in. A few details are also kept in your browser, without cookies: your chosen language, whether a session exists, and where the visit came from for our statistics (erased when the tab closes). None of them requires your consent, and none is set by a third party.
Your account and its content: as long as the account exists. When you delete it, your data and photos are erased from the service immediately, with one exception required by law and described below. Identification of content authors (legal obligation): for each publication (feed, comment, listing, review, challenge, shop) and at account creation, the IP address, the type of operation and the date are kept for one year. When the account is deleted, your name is kept for five years and your email for one year. This data is kept apart, used for nothing else, and disclosed only to an authority that lawfully requests it. IP address and browser of a sign-in: until the session expires, 7 days at most. Server technical logs: a few weeks at most, erased automatically as they rotate. Audience statistics: 25 months at most. Problem reports: up to 12 months after they are handled; your email is then removed from them. Restricted-access backups: 7 days for database backups, at most 12 months for server snapshots. Nothing is restored from them, except to rebuild the service after a failure.
You have the right to access, rectify, erase and port your data, the right to restrict and object to its processing, the right to withdraw your consent at any time, and the right to set instructions for your data after your death. You can download your data and delete your account yourself, from Profile > Settings > “My data and account”: deletion also erases your photos. For the other rights, write to sevangmb@gmail.com. If you believe your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (www.cnil.fr).
Passwords are encrypted, connections to the site are encrypted (HTTPS), and access to data is restricted to the service's technical needs.
For any question about this policy or your data: sevangmb@gmail.com, or the “Report a problem” button (lifebuoy icon) present on every page.
